  • The French Revolution started in 1789 and ended in 1799. This was a time when the commoners of France rose up against the monarchy.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • Everyone thought France was one of the most flourishing countries in Europe, but that wasn't true at all. They had many issues that took a toll on their economy and country as a whole. People were divided into three estates the first and second having the most power.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The meeting of the Estates General was a gathering of representatives from each estate. Each only having one vote even though the third estate had the most people.
  • The Great Fear
  • The Tennis Court Oath was a meeting that consisted of people from the third estate. The gathering was in a tennis court and people stayed until a new constitution was written. This act ended in Louis XVI getting rid of the three estates.
  • The Storming of the Bastille was time when people were upset because they thought Louis was going to abolish the National Assembly using the military. They stole weapons and ammunition from the bastille. They killed many guards and commanders and even went as far as putting their heads on pikes and parading them around.
  • The Great Fear was a period of panic and mayhem due to the conspiracies that the king was going to overthrow the third estate. Peasants and lower class rioted. They burned down noble homes and any important documents they could get their hands on.
