- Hello there. I'm water droplet and I'm going to take you through the journey of my life. Most people think I'm new every time I fall from the sky. But I'm not This is the story of the life in the water cycle.
- It all starts here, evaporation. did you know that water is the only material in the world that can be in three forms - solid - liquid - gas! The sun heats me up which makes me become gas I rise into the sky where the air is cooler. Then i change again!
- Now I'm riding the sky as I have condensed and joined many of my family and friends to become a cloud. Air currents blow clouds all around the world. In the cloud we again form into droplets and fall to the ground this is called PRECIPITATION. Sometimes we are droplets but other times we can also become snow flakes.
- If I land as a snowflake I will melt and end up running back into a river and then the process will start again. If I fall as a droplet I may end up being adsorbed into the ground and water the plants, I will then transpirise through the leaves as a gas and back into the clouds again.
- If I'm not absorbed by the ground I can become a run off and end up running into a steam, river or ocean,
- If I am not absorbed by the plants or run off into the sea or river I could go deep down into the earth. It can be a very complicated process but water is an essential part of life so this is why the process is so important. Where ever I land as a droplet or snowflake at some point I will evaporate and start the cycle again.
