- Holden was trying to make the most of his time by listening to Ernie play the piano. His mood quickly changes when he watches the audience go crazy over the performance whether it was good or not. He soon became depressed again.
- Holden comes back to the hotel feeling depressed, when he gets stopped in an elevator. A man questions him asking if he wanted a prostitute to come and please him. Holden goes out of his comfort zone and agrees.
- "The first thing when I got in the elevator, the elevator guy said to me, 'interested in having a good time, fella? Or is it too late for you?"
- "I told you about ten times, I don't owe you a cent. I already gave her the five."
- After Holden doesn't even go through with Sunny he still pays the 5 dollars the man originally told him. Sunny informs him its actually 10 dollars, but Holdens persistent with the price he was told. The man, Maurice, came to his room and threatened to do whatever it takes for the 10 dollars he said he originally told Holden.
