What to slaves is the 4th of July?
I hope many people willl read my story and understand how horrible and wrong slavery is...
After Douglass return to America as a free man, he started the publication of his own newspaper, the North Star, which was later renamed Frederick Douglass’ Paper and Douglass Monthly. With the power to reach a wider audience Douglass’ objective was to influence public opinion through his publication. He became one of the leaders of the abolitionist movement on his own right.
No more Slavery!
In 1841, Frederick Douglass joined the American anti-slavery society. He not only spoke to many people around the country but also around the globe; such as European countries. Ferderick Douglass was a powerful motivational speaker, who gaves many speeches inpsiring anti-slavery speeches to many people to revolt against slavery.
African-Americans slaves should be involved in the incoming war, they should be able to do so...
I am not sure, Douglass. I will still have to consider it!
May 1, 1845, Douglass published an autobiography of his life, which sold over 35 thousand copies,discussing the tradies of slavery and the horrible treament of slaves. HE wrote his narrative in hopes of abloishing slavery and gaining freedom for all. His autobiograpy inpsired many people from different countires which helped to further spread the movement of anti-slavery and the abolition of slavery. autobiography.
Great! Also, the goal of the War should be the abolition of slavery.
Okay, African Americans can be Enlisted/drafted for the War
In 1848 members of the two old political parties, the Democrats and the Whigs, who were opposed to slavery joined forces to create the Free Soil Party. In 1854 the Free Soil Party formed an alliance with the Whigs who opposed to the extension of slavery in Kansas. All inspired by Douglass and his motivatinal public speaaking.
Fedrick Douglass met up with Arbram and tried to convince him that slaves should be allowed to fight in the war. Douglass also helped to covince Arbram Lincilon and other politicans that the goal of th war should be the abolistion of slavery not state's rights or any other reasons.
Abraham passed the The Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 which allowed American- Americans to fight in the war. In addition, this proclamation helped to establish the 13th smendment, which is the freedom on all slaves.
