the (antagonist) is the narrator his main goal throughout the story is to eventually kill the old man(protagonist) because his "vulture eye" irritates him. He conceived a plan by kills him by stifling him with a pillow. Him, having the audacity to kill the old man. He also did not want to kill him for his money but only because of the eye. The old man only found the eye vexing too.
climax
the author asked the old man how he slept at the dinner table. The night after he grabbed a lamp and peaked in the old mans room to see if his eyes were open. then he watches the old man sleep every day for a week. he then killed the old man the 8th night.
falling action
He starts by watching the old man sleep at midnight. While holding the lamp, he opens a small crevice. the author believes that he can here the old mans heart beat. the 8th night the author wakes up old man by laughing. the man suddenly grabs the old man off his bed and begins to suffocate him.

on the 8th night the narrator kills the old man by suffocating him with a matters. the man die and then he takes him to the bathroom.

after the narrator kills the old man and puts his remains in a bathtub full of the old mans own blood. the man takes the body and conceals it under the floor board. the police arrive at his house and he lets them in. rate before he confesses his guilt the police officers are laughing historically.
the narrator confesses to the murder because he can stand the sound of the health with his own guilt. he sits there crying on the floor because he confessed of the murder.
