- An angel (traditionally Gabriel) comes to Mary and tells her that she will have a son, he will be 'holy, son of the most high' and she shall name him Jesus.(Luke)
- An angel appears to Joseph in a dream and tells him that Mary is pregnant through the Holy Spirit and so he should go ahead with marryingher. They should call the son Jesus.(Matthew)
- A census of the entire Roman Empire was called by Caesar Augustus which meant that Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem, Judea. While they were there, Mary gave birth to her first-born, a son.(Luke)
- A star appears over the place where Jesus is born. Magi from the East see the star and make the journey to where it highlights.(Matther)
- Shepherds in the fields were told by a heavenly host of angels about the Birth of Christ. At first they were terrified but they visited Bethlehem and saw it for themselves. They then told everyone what they had seen.(Luke)
- The three magi arrived in Bethlehem and saw the Baby Jesus. They brought him gifts of Gold ,frankincense and myrrh. The bowed down to him in worship.(Matthew)
