CAUSE
The South has left the Union. I must take action and support the Union in civil war! I cannot let the country be divided and allow slavery.
EFFECT
WE HAVE WON THE WAR, VICTORY! Our country can be reunited now. I have more work to do. My first task is to abolish slavery.
President Lincoln, we could not have been victorious with out your leadership!
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of The United States. During his presidency, war broke out between the North (Union) and the South (Confederacy). The South had left the United States. This is was the start of the Civil War, which began in April of 1861.
This Emancipation Proclamation will help to keep the Union intact. This will be a step to begin ending slavery.
Lincoln sided with the Union, which opposed slavery, and helped them win the war. Though he had been successful in reuniting the South and the North, there was still work to be done to get rid of slavery.
WE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND OUR OWN FREEDOM!!
President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. You have the right to serve in the Army and Navy of the Union. Who wants to join?
I am so excited that the North has has WON THE CIVIL WAR! Now, the country can be one United States again. But now I must work on abolishing slavery!
President Lincoln wrote The Emancipation Proclamation. It said that slaves would be granted freedom in the Confederate states if the they did not return to the Union by January 1, 1863. It also said that slaves would only be free if the Union won the Civil War.
