Louis and Clark had about 40 men to go on the expedition. The went about 20 miles every 24 hours on foot.
Oregon Trail
President Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act. This made all tribes west of the Mississippi River go to east of the Mississippi River. The path they took was called the Trail of Tears. It was called that because over 4,000 Indians died. The Indians fought against the Americans, this battle was called the Battle of Little Bighorn. The Indians won but the Americans had reinforcements and they took the Indians to reserves.

Almost all the Texans were killed. The battle lasted 13 days. There were over 4,000 soldiers.

The Oregon Trail went across the US from the east side to the west side. Most of the people who went on the trail had no shoes and walked next to the wagon.
Most of the travelers didn't trust that there was gold in the west. The trail they took was 2,000 miles long!
