- The way the music is a symbol is that it shows Jimg mei's Sides and how they are opposite of one another and how they contrast. The way this is shown in the story is Pleading Child was shorter but slower; Perfectly Contented was longer but faster. And after I had played them both a few times, I realized they were two halves of the same song. (Amy Page 6) This symbolism is talking about the mother daughter conflict and how they are both completely different pieces but they are one of the same song. Just how her and her mother are

- Shirley Temple is a actress which her and her mother would watch what she ends up representing especially for thee mother is the American Dream and hope that her daughter is going to become successful. Soon after my mother got this idea about Shirley Temple, she took me to the beauty training school (Tan Page 1) This is the mother trying to get her daughter to the American Dream to make her that star on the TV because in America you can be anything and live a good life and that's what the mother sees in Shirley Temple and that's what she wants her daughter to have.
