- The Story takes place on a mystery island called ship trap island which holds a disturbing backstory and Rainsford happens to stumble upon that island. Rainsford is the pprotagonist finds a huge gothic mansion on the aandonded island and meets the owner, General Zaroff. They start talking about hunting and that the General has found a new animal to hunt thta can reason and this brings up a problem between the two of them.

- At the very beggining of the story, Rainsford is a boat with his friend Whitney and they are on a trip to go hunt and right before going to bed at night, Rainsford hears a gunshot. He balances himself on the railing to get greater elevation but his pipe falls out his mouth and when he tries to catch it, he falls off his boat.

- The most interesting part of the story is when Rainsford hides behind the curtain inside General Zaroff's room
- Climax
- Near the very end of the story, General Zaroff losses to Rainsford and Rainsford gets to sleep in the most comfortable bed.
