- Guy Montag and his crew were sent to start a fire on an old lady's house who was in possession of books. The lady did not want to leave her house and her books behind to burn.
- I want to stay here.
- Montag continued to converse with the old lady, trying to convince her to leave her house so that she doesn't die. She still refused and brought Montag a book, the bible. While she gave him the book, she held a match.
- Montag was forced out of the house leaving the lady behind to burn. He secretly took the book with him to read.
- It took some man a lifetime maybe too put some of his thoughts down, looking around at the world and life and then I come alone in two minutes and boom, it' s all over.
- Montag felt "sick" because of what happened during the fire call. He felt guilty and started thinking about the history behind firefighting and the making of books.
- Montag met up with an old English professor, Faber, that he had met in the past. They talked about how Montag can share the truth and history of books.
- And I hardly think a very old man and a fireman turned sour could do much this late in the game....
- When Mildreds friends were over at his house, Montag started reading a book to them. They did not like the idea of books and had a different opinion about them than Montag.
- Why do people want to hurt people? Not enough people in the world, you got to tease people with stuff like that!
