Storyboard Tekst

  • This test has me so stressed. I have to get a good score if I want a chance to go to college.
  • I am ready for this. My parents hired the best tutor and we have spent many hours going over the materials. I know I will do well.
  • I don't understand why these tests matter. I have good grades in class, but I'm a horrible test taker.
  • Reasons to score high:*More federal funding for next year*Shows I am performing my job well*School earns more prestigious recognition and credentials.
  • Higher scores mean for you: *Increased chances for Ivy League schools*School community recognition*Sense of pride because you mastered the topics
  • In K-12 grades, students are spending on average 257 hours a focusing on standardized test prep.
  • When kids exceed or fall short of this arbitrary line, schools are prescribed a method to evaluate, compare, and rank them. Not because this is healthy for kids, of course, but because it’s convenient for the system. And because it’s tied to funding, the schools all fall in line. Every kid learns in unique ways, yet schools insist on comparing them all by the same set of measures.
  • The problem of standardized testing is that it has less to do with the development of kids and a lot more to do with funding, which starts at the top of the federal hierarchy.
  • Regardless of relative wealth, testing negatively impacts the overall mental wellbeing of kids and teachers alike.
