- Here is a flashback showing a memory of the athlete who was carried on the shoulders of the towns folk for winning a race. The town folks are dark, showing it was in the past, and the athlete being blurred out signifies that he is no longer alive and breathing.

- the athlete is once again being carried on the shoulders of the towns folk but this time the mood is changed, they are going to bury him. The pastor reassure that even though the athlete had died young remember earthly praises die before roses do and that he would be better now than be like the men whose age had outlived their fame.
- Today, is the final race all athletes have to run.Laurel's wilt faster than roses and may he never join with the men whose glory had faded.
- His mother is praying that when he goes to the world of the unliving still wearing his crown of victory and the souls there would cluster around him and ogle.
- May he always wear his crown and the those of the dead flock to gaze.
