- Why are you green. I thought that you were green last time I saw you?
- It's been 100 years Zeus. But to answer your question when you last visited me it was winter. In the winter I have less chlorophyll so my leaves take on a different color than green as there are other pigments.
- Oh Great tree o wisdom what is your secret. You've been alive for thousands of years yet never moved yourself how?
- Ah it is due to a process your kind calls photosynthesis. My leaves absorb carbon and sunlight as my roots absorb water. Then I turn it into energy. I produce it using my chloroplasts.
- Great tree of wisdom, the ancient one. How does photosynthesis help you?
- It helps me produce energy without needing to move. This also helps you humans as without us producers there would be no food for you and animals.
