Rising action: After coming back from visiting Thomas auld F.D. gets a not so welcome back welcome from Mr. Covey. Mr. Covey proceeds to chase F.D. until he hides in the wheat.

Rising action Pt.2: After successfully getting away from Mr. Covey F.D. finds a fellow slave named Sandy Jenkins who invites F.D. to his house after F.D. tell him what's going on. F.D. then seeks for advice on whether he should go back or not.

Climax: F.D. then walks back to the farm thinking he was going to hear it but he got Back WELCOMED IN OPEN ARMS.

Falling Action: The next morning after getting told to help out in the barn F.D. didn't know that Mr. Covey was waiting for him with a long rope ready to wrap him up.
