- It was a dark and stormy night. The family of three was visited by a strange man named Abraham. He gifted to them a paw of a monkey , he said it would give them three wishes. Corporal John jokingly wished to be a General.
- The Corporal and his father and mother , Mr and Mrs Gray , where making fun of the paw gifted to them by Abraham. Corporal John was wondering when he would become a general.
- Two soldiers came early next morning bestowing the rank or general to corporal John. Then a man came Sir Lincoln the man who employed Mr. Gray and informed him that he know how much he embezzled. Mr. Gray said he didn't know what he meant the soldiers arrested Mr. Gray on the spot.

- The new General decided to visit his Father. Mr. Grays hair had began to turn white and he became pale. he asked his son to wish him free before he was hanged.
- Mr. Gray and his Son watched in horror for he had swapped places with his wife. Mrs. Gray had collapsed and began crying as well.
- It had been many years but, General Gray had finally returned. To his Mother's gravy the place where his Father died so many years ago.
