- Odysseous and his men were ready to fight! Odysseous was about to pull him but did not. He knew that if he did, they would be stuck with the cyclops with no way to be saved and return home.
- "My heart beat high now at the chance of action, and drawing my sword from my hip I went along his flank to stab him where the midriff holds the liver. I had touched the spot when sudden fear stayed with me; if I killed him we perished there as well, for we could never move his ponderous doorway slab aside."
- Odysseous was giving the cyclops some wine to make him tired and drunk. While the cyclops was drunk and odysseus and his man weren't in hearing of the cyclops, odysseous best man was encouraging his fellow men with battle talk. While Odysseous and his men were ready they sprang into action, Odysseous drove the stick right into the cyclops eye.
- We can do this!
- While the cyclops was yelling and screaming, Odysseous told his men silently together from the ogre' s bed; and slung a man under each middle one to ride safely on the back of a sheep. Odysseous took the wooliest ram and hung himself under the ram's belly. Odysseous and his crew then waited until morning when the cyclops' big hand stroked each of the rams. Odysseus dropped and rolled clear from the ram and its body, and the screw then started to make its way to the ship.
