Chapter 8 Giver Events

- what is happening to jonas he should have been called by know . Did she mess up?

- My apologies to anyone that was affected by the action  I had made. Especially you Jonas, as I caused you anxiety and fear
- What she mean I wasn't selected? Did I mess up? Did  I not do my hours? What is it?
- However there is a reason for this.  You see, the reason why Jonas was not called up is becuase he was not chosen for a job.
- #160;The first part of this chapter began with everyone looking at Jonas and confused on why they had skipped over him. The ceremony had ended and the chief elder had still not called Jonas up to the stage to get his title/job. This caused double discomfort for not only Jonas but also all of the citizens at the gathering.#160;
- How can I be selected if  I didn't get a job?
- Even though Jonas was not selected for a job he has been selected for something much greater.
- The next event that I had noticed was when the chief elder had announced her apology and had asked the community for her forgiveness. She announced that there was a reason for this. We would soon find out what this was in a later scene.
- Jonas has been selected to be the receiver. This is a very important role in our society Jonas. Congratulations., however  this will not be an easy job. You will experience pain like  you or us have never experinced.  Good luck.
- The event next is one of the most important of the chapter. The Chief of Elders explains that Jonas has not been selected for any title. The entire crowd was astonished as the elders had always made a decision of someone's job except for one exception.

- This event gives us some clarity on what is happening but not full clarity. The chief elder explained that although he was not chosen for a job he was selected. Jonas tried to figure out what she meant by this and so did the crowd.
- The next event is most likely the most important in the entirety of the chapter. This is when the chief of elders announced that Jonas was going to be receiver. In this moment, she had also explained all of the challenges and hardships he will face during training of receivers.
- This scene is one of the most reassuring scenes in the chapter. Once the crowd finds out that Jonas has been given such a great honor they all begin to chant his name. Jonas is excited but still doesn't know what will happen to him or why it was him who had gotten the honor of being receiver.
