- Who are you?
- After a plane crashes on an island two boys from the plane named Ralph and Piggy encounter each other in the island and they introduce themselves to each other.
- Piggy finds a conch shell and tells Ralph to blow on it so he does which causes many boys that are all different ages to come out to the beach where Piggy and Ralph are.
- The boys all decide to vote on a leader in the group. They choose between Ralph and Jack and eventaully they all agree on Ralph.
- They find a pig and agree that they need to have hunters. They also agree that when they have meetings only Ralph and the person with the conch shell in their hands is allowed to speak.
- One of the boys claims to have seen a snakelike "beastie" or monster. This creates fear in the group but the older kids reassure everyone that it was probably just a nightmare he had.
- They make a fire with wood, leaves, and Piggy's glasses so that it is easier for ships or someone to find and rescue them but one of the boys ends up going missing in the fire.
