- 12 year old, Alejandra is woken up to go to work in the mangrove swaps collecting curiles.
- 4 AMUsulutan, El Salvador
- Alejandra, wake up it is time for work.
- Alejandra doesn't have time to eat breakfast since she is always running to prepare things for work
- Items in the bag include pills to keep her from falling asleep and cigarettes.
- I have to go
- When Alejandra gets to her job she has to pull out curiles cause her cuts and scrapes.
- She has to put up with terrible weather and mosquitoes. She uses the cigarettes to repel the mosquitoes but the amount she has is not enough.
- If Alejandra is very lucky and she collect two baskets of curiles she will earn $1.40
- Alejandra feels trapped on her own since other kids don't want to play with her because she collects cirules
