- Yeah like two similar sketchpen packets, we have two black, two blue two light green and so on...
- Do you think , you have chromosomes in your hair, teeth,lungs,brain , saliva and RBC
- No , there may be million chromosomes in our body but in each cell, the number is fixed to 46
- How many chromosomes , are there in each cell
- oh yes, we have two types of each chromosome, 23 come from papa while the other half comes from mamma
- Million may be
- Ummm, Yeah!!
- yeah see if our body did not have means to half the chromosomes, we would have 92 chromosomes like rats... so one place in our body we have special cells called gametes
- But tell me what is gamete then?? it has 23 chromosomes right
- chroma means colour and tin means thread so these are coloured threads while chromosomes are coloured thick bodies, Chromatin change into chromosomes by folding upon itself when cell has to divide.After all it will be so difficult to travel with a lot of messy threads.
- What is chromatin then......
- Like I fold my clothes when mommy is coming to my room to check my wardrobe. Gosh!! Cell is so like me ....
- Do you know scientists have mapped all our genes . they now know the function of each gene and can even add or take out specific genes from a person

- No they are not jeans but genes. They are that part of chromosomes which control a character in our body
- Character like my hair colour, height, blood group, shape of nose .
- And jeans-....
- Wow I leant so mush about genes today, wonder if we will be able to make designer babies in future with no diseases may be...Will read up on it tonight
- DNA is the chemical of which the chromatin / chromosomes are made of like protein is the chemical in pulses, vitamin is the chemical in fruits and carbohydrates are the chemical in cereals.
