  • Scene 4
  • "Yet a barful strife! Whoe’er I woo, myself would be his wife." (1.4.294)
  • Scene 5
  • "I know his soul is in heaven, Fool." (1.5.362)
  • "The more fool, madonna, to mourn for your brother’s soul, being in heaven. Take away the fool, gentlemen." (1.5.363)
  • "Love make his heart of flint that you shall love, and let your fervor, like my master’s, be placed in contempt. Farewell, fair cruelty." (1.5.585-588)
  • Scene 5
  • "Unless the master were the man. How now? Even so quickly may one catch the plague?" (1.5.595-596)
  • Viola Admits that she has fallen in love with Orsino, and now she is tasked with wooing his love for him. This makes Olivia sad, as she wants to have Orsino's love.
  • "The Fool" character is introduced, also known as Feste the Fool. This scene shows Feste's brilliance, and is fit to play the part of a clown. Feste makes Olivia look unintelligent by stating and proving that she is mourning for her brother being in heaven.
  • Olivia is not willing to accept Orsino's love, but instead finds love in the messenger, who happens to be Viola dressed as Cesario. This scenario creates a big confusion, as the woman Viola was trying to woo for Duke Orsino, turned out to love Viola dressed as a man instead.
