  • This was from the pdf (lines 112-118). This scene showed Creon and Oedipus talking about what they have to do to stop the disease and save the city. Creon told Oedipus that they have to either banish or execute the man who killed King Laius.
  • Oedipus I've came back with news. The God's told me that we need to banish or execute the killer of king Laius.
  • "Oedipus. How can we cleanse ourselves—what rites? What’s the source of the trouble?Creon. Banish the man, or pay back blood with blood. Murder sets the plague-storm on the city.Oedipus. Whose murder?Whose fate does Apollo bring to light?Creon. Our leader,my lord, was once a man named Laius, before you came and put us straight on course." Lines (112-118)
  • This was from the pdf (lines 398-413). This scene showed Tiresias accusing Oedipus of murdering the king. Oedipus does not like that one bit and starts to rage at Tiresias.
  • You would not like what I have to say.
  • Ok then I charge you of killing King Laius.
  • Tell me what you know Tiresias
  • Tell me or I accuse you of killing Laius
  • WHY YOU LITTLE
  • "Tiresias. Is that so!I charge you, then, submit to that decreeyou just laid down: from this day onward speak to no one, not these citizens, not myself. You are the curse, the corruption of the land!Oedipus. You, shameless—aren’t you appalled to start up such a story? You think you can get away with this?Tiresias. I have already. The truth with all its power lives inside me.Oedipus. Who primed you for this? Not your prophet’strade.Tiresias. You did, you forced me, twisted it out of me." Lines (398-413)
  • This was from the pdf (lines 931-937). This scene showed that if there was a band of thieves then Oedipus could not possibly be the killer but if it was only one man then Oedipus is definitely the killer.
  • If there is only one killer at the scene that day then I am the killer
  • Jocasta. What did I say? What struck you so?Oedipus. You said thieves—he told you a whole band of them murdered Laius. So, if he still holds to the same number,I cannot be the killer. One can’t equal many. But if he refers to one man, one alone, clearly the scales come down on me:I am guilty. Lines (931-937)
