- Arthur is waiting in a lobby to interview an author more successful than him. This is the start to his trip around the world to avoid his ex of 15 years wedding.

- I miss Freddy so much. Also my other ex Robert.
- After a series of unfortunate events in India he spends a day on an Island with Freddy's adoptive father, Carlos.
- He goes to Mexico to talk to Robert's ex wife. She cancels last minute. So he goes on an adventure around Mexico with Arturo. During the adventure he reminisce of the affair he had with Robert.
- Wow, the El Tajín is stunning.
- Before a flight to Morocco, he attends a dinner party in Paris. At the party he meets a man named, Javier who is in a loveless relationship. They spend the whole night talking. Near the end Javier gives Arthur a kiss and ask him to stay with him.
- Please stay with me.
- While attending a birthday party in Morocco which involves a trek through a desert to a Swiss ski resort. Arthur ends up spending time his 50th birthday with Mohammed the tour guide after everybody ends up sick the first day.
- Theme: Search for IdentityArthur Less, the main protagonist of the book, travels around the world trying to better understand himself. After a series of unfortunate events he seeks to redefine himself. A symbolism in the book is his blue suit. In the beginning of the novel it is said that he is not Arthur Less without his iconic blue suit. By the end of the novel he distance himself from the suit.
- You have the best life of anyone I know.
- Review: A lot better than the previous book I read which was "The Sympathizer." It was very humorous, the way the author described many of the unfortunate events. The ending was also very satisfying instead of a cliffhanger.
- Both Arthur and Freddy realize they love each other. Freddy decides to wait for Arthur return to California at the airport.
