Then gave a paper full of names of people who are invited to the party and gave it to an illiterate serving-man.
  • Act 1 scene 4-5
  • Uncle, he's a Montegue!
  • While Lord Capulet and Paris were talking about marriage, Lady Capulet went to talk to Juliet about marrying Paris. Juliet basically tells them(in modern day terms) "I'll think about at the party." Even when the nurse went on and on about how good a husband Paris would be.
  • Are you sure you need to think about it. He's a pretty fine lad if I do say so myself.
  • While Benvolio was helping Romeo, the illiterate serving-man asked if they could read the list of names, which Romeo insisted. In his thankfulness, the serving-man said they could come to the party. Romeo was hesitant at first, but Benvolio convinced him to go.
  • Thank you for helping me read these invitations. If you want, you're welcome to come to Lord Capulet's party.
  • On the way to the party, Benvolio and Romeo ran into their friend, blabber-mouth Mercutio, who was also invited, who went on and on about Queen Mab, the fairy's midwife. At the party, Romeo met Juliet, and they instantly fell in love. Tybalt saw Romeo and tried to get his uncle Lord Capulet to get Romeo out of here, but Lord Capulet refused and that he would punish Tybalt if he dared make a scene.
  • It's just Romeo. He's a good soul, so just let him be.
  • I love you, even though we just met.
