Hi! My name is Rocky and I am a sedimentary rock. I am going to show you how I go from sedimentary, to metamorphic rock, and then to igneous rock.

I was formed by other rocks breaking down into sediments in a process called weathering. Next, I moved to a new spot in a process called erosion. In my case, I was moved by a wind storm.

You may ask, "Rocky, why do you look so different?", and my answer for you is that I changed! I am now a metamorphic rock!

You may also be asking, "How did this happen?", and I'm about to tell you. I went through a process called regional metamorphism. This is where the tectonic plates of the Earth caused extreme heat and pressure which caused my parent rock to form into me.

Now come with me as I change into an extrusive igneous rock.

Wow! I think I'm a little sweaty! Most of it is gone now, but I was just reformed by lava aboveground. I am fine-grained because I didn't take long to solidify.

I was then compacted and I made some new sediment friends. Then we became cemented together and are now best friends for life.

I had fun taking you guys on my journey. I hope you learned something new!
