- From 9.8 billion years until the present, the universe became dark-energy dominated and underwent accelerating expansion. At about 9.8 billion years after the big bang, the solar system was formed.
- Ah, I've actually heard about the nebular hypothesis, that somehow explains how the solar system was formed.
- Well Sir, I don't know much about it but from what I've read, it states that the solar system formed from a solar nebula, which is a cloud of gas and dust within interstellar space that is made up of atoms of previously fused elements that are all gravitationally bounded together.
- Wow, amazing. You're quite knowledgeable about it.
- That's actually true. What do you know about it though?
- So what happens in this nebular hypothesis is that, a rotating gaseous cloud cools and self-gravity contracts the gas cloud.
- Then, the conservation of angular momentum pulls cloud into a disk. The disk begins to rotate and the central mass forms. After that, centrifugal force balances gravitational forms then a ring forms which then forms into a planet.
- Let's go back now.
- So basically, that's how the solar system was formed. Also, don't get confuse though. Nebular hypothesis states the origin of the solar system while the BigBang theory states the origin of the universe.
