  • Yes but what does that have to do with anything and what test?
  • Hey doctor, Recently I have been having pain when urinating and random discharge from my penis. Am I dying?
  • Here is 17 year old Billy Blonde, 1-3 weeks after his first (unprotected) oral and is now having weird symptoms
  • Relax Mr.Blonde, I may have an idea as to what these symptoms mean but to be sure we need to runs some tests, Also are you sexually active?
  • Just ruling out some possibilities as to what may be affecting your health and for the tests you just need to pee in a cup.
  • Two weeks later...
  • What??
  • it's a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by bacteria. Those aches in your stomach and the unusual discharge are symptoms of Chlamydia
  • Hello Mr. Blonde, your results show that you have chlamydia
  • Chlamydia spreads through vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone with the infection. Semen does not have to be present to get or spread the infection. Pregnant people can give chlamydia to their babies during childbirth. This can cause ophthalmia neonatorum (conjunctivitis) or pneumonia in some infants.
  • Chlamydia first became recognized as a specific STI in the 1970s, but it took until 1988 for it to become notifiable.
  • Newly diagnosed cases were reported only routinely in STI statistics from 1990, when there were 34,000 new diagnoses. The number began to rise steeply after 1995, reaching 100,000 in 2003.
  • Chlamydia is completely curable and 95% of people are cured when they take their antibiotics correctly. However, it is advised that you practice abstinence until this STI is cured, just to prevent the spread to your partner.
  • so what does this mean?!
  • Well, it just means that you will be taking doxycycline – every day for a week and azithromycin – one dose of 1g, followed by 500mg once a day for 2 days.
  • It was a good thing Mr. Blonde told me about his symptoms because if left untreated chlamydia can result in PID can cause infertility (not being able to get pregnant), chronic pelvic pain, tubal pregnancies, and the continued spread of the disease. In men, untreated chlamydia can cause urethral infection and complications such as swollen and tender testicles.
  • Lucky for Mr.Blonde his partner was well informed on STD's and did not judge him but instead encouraged him.
  • You're not alone, dear. 1 in 4 sexually active adolescent females have chlamydia and the recovery takes about 1-2 weeks after that we can spice things up at my place.
  • Thanks for understanding.
