- Well who is it?
- *Gasps*
- Kiowa..
- Its Kiowa!
- I've always tried to avoid viewing my men not as units but as human beings. And Kiowa had been a splendid human being, the very best.
- Man, I bet if Kiowa were here he'd just laugh.
- One of Jimmy Crosses soldiers sees a body in the mud and attempts to take the body out. Jimmy and the group stand confused and curious on who's body it was since it was very hard to make out a face with the mud on it.
- Wasted in the waste. A shit field. You got to admit, its pure world-class irony.
- Fine, now pipe down.
- They are all shocked to find it's Kiowa. Jimmy Cross is devastated and feels a heavy amount of guilt.
- I never wanted to be lieutenant. I signed up for the Reserve Officer Training Corps without much thought. I was only 24, unprepared, and my heart wasn't in it. I didn't even know how to keep my men out of a shit field.
- Everyone is shocked and starts to have memories of Kiowa. Jimmy Cross begins to think about what his job as a lieutenant is knowing he has to take responsibility for this.
- It was a stupid mistake, that's all it was a stupid mistake, but it had killed Kiowa.
- The group start to conversate about Kiowa's death while mourning him. Azar is upset over the way Kiowa had to go.
- Jimmy Cross goes to sit by himself to think about everything that has just happened. Jimmy is aware that he now has to take responsibility and is thinking of what he's gonna say to Kiowa's father.
- Jimmy Cross puts full blame on himself. All the memories Jimmy has of Kiowa pain him to the core.
