Many people believed that joining crusades would bring them wealth. Therefore when Peter the Hermit initiated the first crusades about 150,000 people joined very quickly. Most of his army were untrained men and women. This led to most being killed before arriving to the Holy Land.
Most of us died but we got Jerusalem I guess.
Unprepared, scared but we don't care lol. We captured Jerusalem so we're winning. Those Turks also got turned back and we stopped their advance on Constantinople. #winners
Despite their setbacks they had a very important advantage, they were able to get the Muslims kingdoms in surprise while they were weak. This crusade was labeled a success as they were able to capture Jerusalem.
Omg Edessa has fallen. We're afraid so we're going to crusade again, which is an order from the Pope.
The capturing of Edessa scared most of Europe, so the Pope called for a crusade. Many powerful people joined this crusade. Yet they still lost pretty bad, many of the crusade leaders fought with each other. And the crusaders were unkind to the people, leading to them having no local support.
LOL their crusade was a fail. They're pretty weak right now as well. Which means we have just grown in power. #letsgo
Since the 2nd crusade failed, the Muslim leader Saladin grew in power. This led to him recapturing Jerusalem in 1187.
Saladin capturing Jerusalem sparked a third crusade, but this ended not like the others. The leader of this crusade, Richard | developed a strong friendship with Saladin. They then both signed a truce that ended this crusade.
mnnmnmn
I have a cool idea, lets make a truce with them. This Saladin guy has my respect.
