The clouds and smoke from the explosion spreaded across the earth and increased the temperatures of the atmosphere which eventually killed off 3 quarters of living organisms including the dinosaurs!
What if another asteroid is on its way? I wish the asteroid never hit the earth. I really wanted to see a real dinosaur!

Well actually the extinction of dinosaurs is why we humans are here today! Researchers at the University of Colorado have discovered three new mammal species that emerged shortly after the extinction of dinosaurs. These mammals had characteristics not found in other species during that time. The Cretaceous extinction wiped out most dinosaurs except birds and allowed mammals to evolve. Dinosaurs used to dominate the land which prevented the evolution of Mammals. Mammals were previously small and active at night. Following the extinction of dinosaurs, the evolution of mammals increased significantly. They took advantage of this opportunity and evolved into various species during the Paleogene Period.
So Asteroids are our main concern?
Well no. Another factor that could've caused extinction are the Deccan Traps. During this period of time are the Deccan Traps located in the West of India. The Deccan Traps is a large volcanic area located in western India.

The Deccan Traps is a large volcanic area located in western India. Around 66 million years ago, even before the asteroid, the large area of volcanic activity was causing change to the climate. The Deccan Traps were causing volcanic eruptions, releases of gas, sulfur dioxide and ashes and many more elements were released into the atmosphere. The clouds of dust and gas constantly blocked sunlight affecting plant life and animals in the area.
