- Hey kids gets your things ready because were going camping.
- I making chicken noodle soup.
- Okay mom but what are you making for lunch?
- Hey mom that reminds me at school we learned about heterogeneous and homogeneous.
- And an example of a homogeneous would be water. You can't separate water because you can't separate 2 oxygen's and 1 hydrogen. So it would be considered a Homogeneous mixture.
- So a an example of a heterogeneous mixture would be the chicken noodle soup you made. Since you can separate the vegetables and the chicken apart. it is considered a heterogeneous mixture.
- Wow that a lot if information to take in.
- Sounds fun what is that? can you give me an example
- Hey Sarah do you have all your things ready so I can put it in the trunk?
- Yes mom I already put it in the trunk so we can go now!
- Hey Sarah what else did you learn about in school?
- Well I also learned about physical and chemical change.
- An example of a physical change would be cutting wood and an example of a chemical change would be burning the wood.
- Could you explain what a chemical and physical change is.
- That sounds very interesting tell me more!
- The meaning of psychical change is when the object alters the form or appearance of matter but doesn't turn a substance into a different one.
- The meaning of chemical change is a change in matter that produces one or more substances in a chemical reaction.
- So burning wood would be a chemical change because when you burn it it becomes carbon or in other words ashes.
- And cutting wood would be a physical change because it changes the form of a new material but doesn't change the substance.
- I think I need to go back to school!!
- So cutting wood is a physical change because the matter changes.
