- I heard we are learning about cellular respiration and photosynthesis today though. Better than learning about organelles!

- Good morning class. Today we will be learning about photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

- There are two type of reactions that occur during photosynthesis. These are light dependent and light independent reactions. They both take place in the chloroplast.
- (Writing on the board)Plants like this flower bush go through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process plants go through to get energy.
- Light dependent reactions need light and water to make oxygen and electrons. Light independent reactions need carbon and electrons to make glucose. The two reactions are interdependent
- Class Question; What is needed to make glucose? water only sunlight only water, light, carbon, and electrons electrons and water
- C is the correct answer. H2O+CO2 + energy makes glucose.
- The 1st step is glycolysis which makes pyruvic acid, electrons, and 2 ATP.
- Cellular respiration is the process that takes place to release waste products and create ATP. It takes place in the mitochondria and there are 3 steps to this process.
- The 2nd step is the krebs cycle which uses the pyruvic acid to make CO2, 2 more atp, and more electrons.
- The 3rd step is where electron transport uses electrons and oxygen to make 30 ish ATP and water. Once your body needs ATP it transports it out to wherever it is needed. It gets transported by the electron transport chains which are electron transporters embedded in the mitochondrion membrane
- Yeah! Both of those processes help keep the organism or plant alive and energetic!
