The first parking meter was invented in Oklahoma in the 1930s by Carl Magee, a lawyer and newspaper man. Originally called the "Park-O-Meter No. 1", it was installed on the corner of First St. and Robinson Ave. in Oklahoma City on July 16, 1935.
The National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Oklahoma City.
The first shopping cart was invented by Sylvan Goldman, owner of the Piggly Wiggly supermarket chain, in 1937.
