- WHAT IS A SMART GOAL?
- A SMART goal is specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
- Specific = clearly describe what you want to achieveMeasurable = metrics or some way to determine if the goal has been metAchievable = Is it within your control to meet the goalRealistic = is it possible within any constraints to meet the goalTimely = what is your timeline for starting and or meeting the goal
- Let's say my goal is to star as Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway by December 31, 2021! It's not a SMART goal although it is specific, measurable and timely.
- But that goal isn't achievable or realistic because it isn't within my current abilities and only the best sopranos with stage experience can even audition for the role of Elphaba.
