A SMART goal is specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
Specific = clearly describe what you want to achieveMeasurable = metrics or some way to determine if the goal has been metAchievable = Is it within your control to meet the goalRealistic = is it possible within any constraints to meet the goalTimely = what is your timeline for starting and or meeting the goal
Let's say my goal is to star as Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway by December 31, 2021! It's not a SMART goal although it is specific, measurable and timely.
But that goal isn't achievable or realistic because it isn't within my current abilities and only the best sopranos with stage experience can even audition for the role of Elphaba.
How about this goal? Win the lottery? In the space below answer why this is or is not a SMART goal.
