We have made it to the trenches to study trench warfare. Trench warfare was introduced in WWI as a way to fight opposing troops from trenches that faced each other. Trench warfare was dreaded because of the terrible conditions, bad food, excessive numbers of rats, rainy weather, and the dreaded trench foot.

We are now in the year 1917, the year America entered WWI. I am standing at the very location where history went down in the British Isles. America had merchant ships coming in and out of British ports. Germany then attacked many American ships causing them to sink and giving The United States motivation and a strong cause to join the war on the Allied side.

You might be familiar with the saying, "troops arrived on horses and left in planes. " Not only were planes developed, but tanks, flamethrowers, poison Gas, tracer Bullets, interrupter Gear, air traffic control, depth Chargers, hydrophones, and upgrades rifles and pistols. These developments forever changed modern warfare.

During WWI the public was being influenced by propaganda and laws which prohibited people to speak out about the war. The government participated in censorship, journalists and personal letters were censored to protect the truth about the war. Propaganda was another popular war tactic. The government would use 3 strategies for propaganda: emotional, demonization, and dishonesty.
