- I brought 300 families to Texas. Now we outnumber the Tejanos.
- The Mexican government gave us 4 rules to follow, but we don't want to.

- The Alamo
- We only have 180 soldiers to fight off Santa Anna's army of thousands!
- They began fighting us because we wanted to break Texas away from Mexico.
- We fought for 13 days to give others time.
- The Mexican Government wanted people to settle in Texas after they separated from Spain. They offered settlers plots of land if they moved there.
- The Alamo
- Stephan F. Austin brought 300 families to Texas. Settlers were required to follow some rules set by the government and they did not want to. The number of settlers got to be greater than the number of Tejanos and in 1830 the Mexican Government issued a decree that said that the border would close to settlers.
- "Remember the Alamo"
- We sprung a sneak attack and captured many of the soldiers in Santa Anna's army! Including him!
- Santa Anna took an army into Texas to punish the people who were rebelling against the rules. There weren't many people at the Alamo when he arrived. They fought for 13 days.
- The Lone Star Republic
- I'm serving as president of The Lone Star Republic. President Jackson did not want to annex Texas into the US. We were our own country for 9 years before we were annexed.
- The Mexican Army ended up entered the Alamo and killed all of its defenders. Only women and children were alive after the battle.
- The Mexican Army defeated the Alamo. This created the battle cry "Remember The Alamo". Davy Crockett, William Travis, and Jim Bowie are some famous names who died there.
- I recognize Texas' independence
- Texan leaders and many Tejanos did not like the Mexican rule and wanted to break away. They set up a temporary government and gathered an army to defeat Santa Anna. Texans lead a surprise attack with the battle cry "Remember the Alamo". They captured and killed many soldiers. Once they captured Santa Anna, they had him sign a treaty to make Texas independent.

- Sam Houston was elected president and Mirabeau Lamar served as vice president. They wanted the US to annex Texas. Andrew Jackson refused and The Lone Star Republic was its own country for 9 years. If they were annexed, the balance of slave and free states would be upset. James K. Polk eventually annexed Texas with Oregon to keep the balance.
