- There once was an evil King named Minos. His wife fell in love with a white bull and gave birth to the Minotaur.

- On route to the labyrinth, Arachne fell in love with the handsome foreigner, Theseus, and wanted to save his life. She slipped him a ball of string, which he tied to the entrance of the maze and proceeded to enter and look for the Minotaur.
- Theseus was able to defeat the Minotaur with his bare hands-quite a heroic deed! He then followed the string back to the entrance of the maze, and he and the virgins escaped without harm.
- In Theseus' s haste to return to his homeland of Athens, he forgot to change the black sails to white. Black represented death, so his father, King Aegeus, thought that his son was killed by the Minotaur and took his own life out of grief.
