Bow wow! I’m Oreo, a 5-year-old Indian Pariah dog. I had a rather turbulent childhood, but was adopted by a loving owner, Kizzie, 3 years ago.
Do you want to know the story of how I met my human, who gave me a loving home?
That is me, three years ago. I used to live in the streets. A few kind people used to feed me, but it was never enough. Do you know there are about 35 million street dogs in India right now?We could have a giant doggy-party if we all got together.
As I said before, the living conditions were really harsh. We had to weather the heat, cold and storms all by ourselves. But, then, I was rescued by an NGO.
The people here loved me and took good care of me. Kabir was the sweetest of them all. He didn't scold me when I chewed his slippers.
My human, Kizzie, was a good friend of Kabir’s and wanted to buy a dog. But he told her-
By buying animals, you encourage people who breed dogs under cruel conditions. Why not adopt a street dog instead?
People who breed expensive dogs prioritize making a profit over their care. The dogs are often kept in less-than-ideal conditions, mother dogs are forced to endure multiple pregnancies in a row, and they often do not give the dogs adequate veterinary care.
Kizzie understood Kabir’s point and brought me home. It was paw-rferct! Kizzie and I live together happily now.
She even adopted a cat, which at first, I thought was a 'cat-astrophe'. But now, we get along well.
