- Now that the revolution has ended we are finally able to own our own land!!
- The American Revolutionary War had resulted in massive War Debts. The Continental Congress and state governments imposed a Poll tax to pay for the Revolutionary War debts.
- The farmers in question led by the very revolutionaries who had fought against such taxes in the American war for independence were rebelling against taxes imposed by the state government of Massachusetts.

- Your land and money are worth nothing. You are under arrest your land belongs to us now.
- Although plans for a Constitutional Convention were already under way, the uprising in Massachusetts led to further calls for a stronger national government
- Lets raise the taxes
- And if they cant pay their taxes we throw them in prison and take their land
- A group of protestors, led by Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Shays, began a 6 month rebellion
- We will take back whats ours and make sure no one is thrown in prison again
- The state militia stopped the rebellion and forced the farmers to retreat.

- Shays' Rebellion was unsuccessful at overthrowing the government of Massachusetts through armed insurrection. As a result of the rebellion, the Massachusetts legislature enacted laws the economic condition of debtors.
- We must change the articles of Confederation otherwise we wont be able too stop any future rebellions
