- Megan's unexplained disappearance led to a tragedy for Noah's family. However, soon after that event, Noah started receiving notes from the animals of the Clarksville City Zoo. The notes were from Megan, it were the notes that she had written in her diary about strange discoveries that she made of the animals from the zoo.
- After telling them about the strange happenings, Noah, and his friends Ella and Richie decide to go to the zoo and stay there after it closes to investigate, they meet a man named Tank who was there to help them, the friends figured out that the animals are trying to tell them something of where Megan went. However, Tank warns them about the dangers that lurk beneath the shadows, but once he gains there trust he tells Noah to check his mailbox at midnight.
- That night Noah went out to his mailbox as Tank told him to do so, and the his surprise he saw a Cheetah running down the street with a piece of paper in it's mouth, the cheetah took of running down the street after delivering it to Noah's mailbox, Noah took off to the zoo on his bike as soon as he read the note... Meanwhile his friend Ella crept down stairs wondering about the note, she walked a few houses down to Richie's and called him down to go after Noah.
