- Jinesh is a rickshaw puller in Ahmedabad. He lives with his wife and three kids in a fairly hygienic and good pakka house under the living space provided by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
- Being the only earning member of his family, the survival of his family depends on his daily income from pulling rickshaw which fluctuates every day.
- On most of the days he gets enough earning for him to save some amount after buying all his day-to-day necessities. But sometimes, he barely earns enough to even buy his daily necessities. However, with is Below Poverty Line Ration Card (BPL), Jinesh gets sufficient quantity of wheat, rice, sugar and kerosene oil for his daily use at half of the market price.
- His children have been getting proper education under the multiple poverty alleviation programs by the Gujarat government. State Scholarship to Pre-SSC Students is also provided, the key objective of which is to ensure economic welfare and empowerment of students belonging to backward classes of the society.
- In this way, Jinesh is able to eke out his survival with less than sufficient earnings for his family where he is the only earning member.
