Here we are! Our focus for this trip is about missionaries and monks
Go teach people about Christianity
A missionary is someone who tries to convert others to a particular religion or in this case Christianity. Popes first sent missionaries to Britain and eventually most people around the island became Christian and eventually they spread Christianity to others such as areas that are now France and Germany.
Ok
Bye
Most missionaries were sent to places by popes. But, not all missionaries were sent by popes. A missionary named Patrick who was one of the first missionaries to travel to northern Europe went for his own sake without being told. Unlike many missionaries Patrick traveled alone and converted many Irish people to Christianity.
Monks were religious men who lived apart from society in isolated communities. These communities were called monasteries. In monasteries, monks spent much of their time in work, praying, and mediation. Life in a monastery is very strict and organized. Monks had to follow rules that helped them live as a good Christian. Some rules included how they had to dress and eat.
