स्टोरीबोर्ड पाठ

  • "It would be best for you to have some feminine influence"
  • "I can't do anything in a dress!"
  • "You aren't supposed to be doing anything that requires wearing pants."
  • I knew what her plan was.
  • "Stay with us, Jean Louise."
  • This is the scene where Scout is at her Aunt Alexandra's house on the farm. Her aunt tell's her that she needs to be more feminine.
  • Scout expresses to her aunt that she can't play outside or do any activities in a dress but then her aunt replies with a statement saying that Scout shoudn't be playing outside anyways since she is a girl.
  • "That was so mean. Why would you say that?"
  • Aunt Alexandra then decided to make a plan to allow Scout to stay at her home so she can teach Scout how to act like a "lady". This is an example of stereotyping how people dress and act based upon their gender.
  • In 7th grade, we had a new student named Tanya. Tanya couldn't speak English very well and she came from a poor country so she didn't have very much to wear. I was involved with a very mean group of friends that constantly made fun of Tanya. We were going to lunch and I noticed that Tanya was sitting alone. Then one of my friends said that we should not sit with her because she is weird but we only knew very little about her.
  • "We are not sitting with her. She is so weird."
  • Tanya heard what my friend had to say and I was mortified. My friend knew nothing about her except for what she wore and how she spoke. I thought Tanya looked like a nice and sweet girl and I wanted to sit with her.
  • "I can not be seen with someone who looks her."
  • I then approached Tanya, and asked her if I could sit with her and I also apologized for my "friends" behavior. My friend and I did not speak to each other after this situation because I was so upset about what she said and how all she cared about was having freinds thhat were rich and wore the same type of clothes as her. Tanya was the sweetest and most caring person I ever met and I knew that because I did not judge a book by it's cover and I wanted to see what kind of person she was.
  • "Thank you so much Lila."
  • "Of course. Don't listen to her. You are amazing and I will sit with you everyday."
