- In Poland, 1942, at a catholic orphanage, a young boy named Felix finds a carrot in his soup. He believes that this carrot is from his parents, to tell him that they're coming back.
- CLIMAX
- Felix hopes it’s his parents, but it turns out to be men in armbands. Nazis who discovered she was hiding jewish books but they haven’t discovered that felix is jewish. Felix resolves to finds his parents and warn them about the Nazis.
- FALLING ACTION
- Felix, travelling to the city, comes upon a burning house. Then he spots an unconscious little girl, Zelda.They are spotted by a Nazi, and made to walk to the city with other Jewish people. Felix and Zelda are saved by a man named Barney. The other children explain to Felix that they’re hiding from the Nazis because the Nazis hate all Jewish people. While hiding in the cellar, Felix tells stories, assist Barney, a dentist, with his work. Felix leaves the cellar to find her some aspirin and a carrot, and discovers that her father was a Nazi collaborator.
- RESOLUTION
- When Felix returns to the building where the others are hiding, it’s surrounded by Nazis. The Nazis march Barey, Felix carrying Zelda, and the other children to a train station, where more Nazis are forcing jewish people onto a train.
