A KM department will help GDD capture, codified, and share knowledge (Dalkir, 2011, pg 7). Also, having a well-thought out KM strategy links GDD business objectives to an integrated KM cycle (Dalkir, 2011, pg 311). A KM strategy will identify GDD needs and any issues, and it will help provide a solution for addressing them (Dalkir, 2011, pg 313).
- Spoken Text: A KM manager will add significant value to GDD. The KM manager will help create a strategic road map. This road map can be used to help GDD identify and prioritize KM initiatives. The KM manager will also perform a gap analysis and a knowledge audit (Dalkir, 2011, pg 317). A gap analysis will look at GDD's current and desired state of KM resources. The gap analysis will show the difference between the two states. It also shows how GDD will get from the as is state to the to be state. This represented in the strategic road map (Dalkir, 2011, pg 317)
