- While Rainsford is on a hunting trip with his friend Whitney he hears gunshots and ends up falling into the sea. He is forced to swim to a creepy island called Ship-Trap Island.

- When on Ship-Trap Island he meets a man named General Zaroff who invites him into his house and reveals he likes to hunt but not animals he likes to hunt humans.
- The Duel
- Rainsford is forced to play the general's game or get beaten by Ivan. When playing the game Rainsford sets all sorts of traps for General Zaroff but none can get him. 
- Rainsford is able to trick General Zaroff into thinking he was dead by jumping into the ocean. He is able to sneak into General Zaroff's house and confronts him in his bedroom.

- General Zaroff tells him they will fight to the death. They both grab a weapon and start to fight. Rainsford is able to beat General Zaroff and wins the game.

- Rainsford went through a lot and was able to beat General and win the game. He finally wins and takes a nap in the general's bed and thinks it is the best bed.
