  • Political Parties vs Interest Groups
  • Purpose of Political Parties
  • Examples of parties: Republican and Democratic
  • Political Parties are a group of people who share common beliefs who are seeking control of the government by gaining office in a duly constituted election. They achieve this through the use of nominating candidates, the media, and education.
  • Strategies of Interest Groups
  • PACs are political action committee’s. These commitee’s raise and distribute funds for election campaign’s which influence’s the candidate that is getting funded. So if a interest group uses a PAC to fund a certain candidate's campaign, that interest group could push for certain environmentally conscious policies and the candidate would be more likely to listen.
  • Interest groups use lobbying and PACs to influence policies. Lobbying is the action of influencing political figures and representatives in order to achieve a goal. Lobbying can be as simple as writing a letter to a congressman about the benefits of environmental protection legislation or as extravagant as inviting a large energy CEO to a ball game to discuss improving production.
