स्टोरीबोर्ड पाठ

  • Jo overhears his daughter saying this:
  • I'm going to ask your father my torah question about why we say "Asher Nasan..." usually I would ask my dad.,but your daddy is smarter than mine
  • Jo decided to get the answer before Cousin Chaim can
  • The word “שכוי” means heart and rooster. Both meanings apply because the rooster crows and a person's heart reacts and he/she knows how to deal with the situation. So we are thanking Hashem for giving us the ability to respond to situations quickly with quick thinking.
  • Artscroll Siddur
  • Jo goes to the kitchen to ask...
  • Helga, have you ever wondered why we say "Asher Natan..." in birch Hashacar? And if som do you have a answer
  • Well, I think that Rashi says We say the bracha even if we didn’t hear a rooster crow because we are showing gratiude for enjoying the benefit of light
  • JO asks some of Chaim's kids that are outside...
  • Hey boys! Did you ever learn in school why we say "Asher Natan..."
  • Rabbeinu Asher thinks the word “שכוי” to mean human insight and not a rooster, which changes the meaning of the Bracha. We are thanking Hashem for giving us the capacity to know the difference between day and night. We can know when its day and we know when it's time to work, do mitzvot, get up, ect. And we know when it's nighttime, so we know when our body needs to rest up for the next day. great blessing.
  • We heard you need help with a question, which we can give!
  • We say this bracha because We appreciate the usage between day and night because they represent different things; day represents “light” so it's good, positive stuff,
  • and night represents ‘dark’ evil and bad stuff. We are thanking Hashem for giving us the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. Hashem gave us the privilege to recognize what is "day” and what is “night”- what is good and positive, and what is wrong, and bad.
  • Hmm... that is a hard question, I gotta think about it!
  • Then...
  • Hey uncle Chaim, can I ask you a question... Why do we say the Bracha "Asher Natan"
  • Hey Daniella! I can tell you the answer without thinking about it.
  • Yeah, and If we couldn’t distinguish between night and day, it would be very hard for us, because we wouldn’t know when to stop working, when to start. HUman bodies need a schedule, a pattern in order to adjust. So this is a really great bracha!
