- Chapter 5: It was getting so crowded in Yawnek and his family's flat. Yanek found an old man's old pigeon coop on the roof. He thought it could be his family's new home! He ran to his mother and father to tell them the great news. They decided to live there and put bars on the door so only they could get in.
- Chapter 12: He was lying on the floor, he could not get up because he was too weak. Yanek then saw a loose board, there was a space under it. Right away he got the idea to hide down there during the day so he would not get killed by Goeth. He knew it was his uncle showing it to him so he got the strenght to get into his bed. Then the next day he would hide there.
- Chapter 14: He arrives at the camp and finds that his job is just moving rocks. But the rocks are heavy and it is a back-breaking job. Once he and his fellow works get all the rocks across the camp the kapo then says to move them back. They were just playing with them the whole time. And they just kept moving the rocks back and forth.
